The Many Lives Of Sun Country Airlines

After the fall of Braniff Airlines, a group of motivated employees put their minds together and developed Sun Country Airlines. It was from that seemingly dark hour that they rose to the occasion by developing a regional carrier airline. They did very well for themselves, unfortunately what happened in September of 2001 dealt such a blow to the airline that they stopped all operations in December. But once again fate stepped in, and the airlines was brought back to life by investors. Just like a return to the early days, Sun Country has been doing what they do best and that is making passengers happy.

Sun Country has managed to instill a core set of principles in their business that reflects the true nature of a quality air carrier. All air travelers want to get where they are going with no problems, and that is what Sun Country tries very hard to give. Straight from their website: “In today’s world of compromises, we still believe in in-flight meals, personable customer service, and your inalienable right to enjoy air travel.” Sun Country operates according to their business philosophy, and the various forms of recognition they have received attests to that.

In September of 2010, Sun Country Airlines finally announced that their plan for reorganization to exit bankruptcy has been confirmed. The final approval is based on a judge’s review of the case and then issue a decision. Many times any creditors who are involved with weigh the decision as well. As you may know, during these kinds of proceedings the creditors must be repaid in some fashion. The overall plan typically consists of cash payouts plus allotment of equity within the company.

About one year ago, in December of 2009, Sun Country Airlines treated a group of 80 children in ages ranging from 5 -12 to an imaginary flight to the North Pole. So it is no surprise they named it: A Flight To The North Pole. Local chapters of United Way – Big Brothers and Big Sisters were also involved in this event. The goal was simply to give the youngsters a truly one of a kind and unique Christmas holiday experience. The employees told the children about flying to the North Pole, all the while they were just taxiing around on the airfield.

Even though Sun Country Airlines has had to declare bankruptcy, not only they but their creditors are positive and hopeful about the future for this airline. They are not down for the count by any means. So all is proceeding normally for this type of situation, and more will be announced in the very near future. They do have much to look forward to because of the principle and attitude of constantly moving forward. They have a very long and totally solid record of achievement for giving their customers first class service no matter where they are seated. There are a lot of people and offices that are confident about the company’s ability to pull out of it. Sun Country expects to be back into operations as soon as practicable and safe for the company.
