The thickness of the fur on bear rugs will depend on the areas in which they were trapped with those in colder climates having a thinker layer of fur. Brown seems to be the dominant color in bear rugs used as fireplace accessories or in decoration for hunting lodges and camps. Costing as much as small car, these bear rugs offer the appearance that many manufactured rugs cannot come close to imitating.

Those looking for the real thing in the way of bear rugs have the choice of finding their own bear and having it prepared to be used within their home or cabin. For others who need to look and appeal of bear rugs can select those made in a factory, without damage to the environmental population of the species.
