Help with food webs on Antarctica?
The animals are Blue whale, orca, penguins (i have different ones but im assuming none eat eachother), leopard seal, weddell seal, antarctic fur seal, black browed albatross, antarctic shag.

The human race is the single biggest threat!
For example in South Georgia they are having to exterminate all the rats that got there on board from whaling ships in the past. The rats basically live on the eggs and chicks of the bird population and have been gradually wiping them out. This tells you about it:-

The whaling industry of the past was unsustainable as whales live a very long time and have few pregnancy’s. Thankfully it has stopped now, because they had killed too many and there were not enough left to continue profitably.
The sealing industry followed also!
Fishing in the Antarctic waters for squid is now controlled by permit but was in danger of following the seals/whales.
Long line fishing is killing all the “slow breeding” albatrosses as the birds try to get the fish on the millions of baited hooks and get hooked and drowned as a result!
Potentially the biggest problem is now starting. The Norwegians are using huge vacuum cleaner type ships to “hoover” up all the Krill in the cold waters. Krill is the basic starting point of the food chain for all sea life so if that is eliminated by overfishing the whole ocean would be devoid of life! The Krill is hoovered up to turn into fertiliser for “farmed” salmon and general land fertiliser!
It is no use saying “there is plenty” , that is what was said in the early days of whaling!
In the Antarctic there is basically no food (except eggs and new born chicks) on land. So speed is not needed to chase and catch prey. Anyway the birds take most of the eggs/chicks.
All the food is in the sea, therefore creatures have evolved to be fast in water (i.e. penguins) which means they are cumbersome on the land.
Probably the fastest creature is the leopard seal which hunts other aquatic animals, They have a very scary jaws and head structure but travel like greased lightning – because they have to be fast in water to catch the other fast moving creatures!
This just proves Darwins theory of evolution which says creatures evolve to suit their conditions.
There is a 50 year rolling moratorium that no commercial exploitation (drilling for oil!!!!!) or military bases are allowed. Several countries are not being 100% observant but overall everyone is trying to be VERY careful.
